70's 80's Tv Programme?

This has been bugging me for a few days now as I can't remember the name of the TV Programme. I think it was aired in the 80's but knowing my memory it was probably the late 70's.
It was an American TV programme which was set at a Naval base the Captain was a right so and so. I'm sure there was an actor called...something..... Palance in it.
For some reason I keep thinking it was called From Here To Eternity but I know thats wrong......don't know why that title keeps popping into my head.
It ran for quite a while.

Thanks Ethel......the programme is not on his list of credits....was there another actor with Palance as a surname?.....
