A local woman was sentenced to 9 months jail for the horrific injuries her dog gave a small boy. Although she was clearly in the wrong, I was interested to know whether she will be locked away in a cell, or whether jails are available for people who are non-violent themselves.
Btw she deserved everything she got; the dog had already bit a child.

I think jail is jail and that a 'non-violent' offenders shares cells with 'violent' offenders, however I believe there are also open jails that house offenders that are coming to the end of there sentance or are not deemed a threat to society(??)
But I am not an expert.

What your crime is, is nothing to do with which jail you are in actually, it's your security catagory that counts, at least when I was in prison, so you'd not really enjoy Wakefield or Long Lartin but somewhere which runs an open regime would be far less restrictive. I'm imaginging here that they run women's prisons in the same way as men.
Sounds a remarkably harsh sentence for something which she obviously didn't do on purpose or even pursonally.

noxlomus I know what you mean. Some rapists get less but the horrific injuries may make you think again.

This is where my question really stemmed from; she did not mean it to happen, if you know what I mean. Terrible, though.
