freeview through cable?

Our block of flats has cable tv wired directly to each flat. This is the only way of receiving terrestrial tv channels. The cable comes in through a satellite lnb type connector and wired to normal aerial connector for tv/vcr.

One of my tvs can tune to bbc news24. A friends pc tv card can tune to many pay channels including sky one.

Do you think I will be able to use a freeview box on this cable to receive the extra channels? There is no access to normal UHF aerial and nowhere to mount one.

As I understand Freeview, it can only be received through a set-top box which receives terrestrial UHF signals from an aerial. I assume that your term "Terrestrial TV Channels" refers to BBC1 & 2, ITV1, Channel 4 and so on, therefore I suggest you 'borrow' a set-top box and try it out.

My daughter freeview box only has a bog standard portable aerial, she has no problem at all

i have just installed shuch a system you will find that if you use a f type plug (sat plug) you should be able to use a set box for free view or sat its a good system but hard to comprehend normall household lmbs are in the dish this system has 4 sensers in the dish and the lmbs are in the gissmos in the riser cubord (or somewere similar)wot ever you conect to it will know ie dab diditall stereo saterlight pace box or freeveiw good ha
