CLAIT course

Really not sure if this is the right section, but here goes... I'm thinking of going to night school and doing a course, to improve my meagre qualifications. I have been to my local college website and read up all the courses, fees, start dates etc. and have seen one called a CLAIT Plus course which looks useful. Has anyone done one of thse courses and found them useful? Does anyone know if Clait is something employers will be interested in seeing on my CV? I know I should be asking a career's adviser at the college, and I will do when I go along to the open day, but I would appreciate some advice in the mean time. The other option I was considering, was retaking GCSE Maths, as I only got a D, both at school and during a resit at college. Do you think it's worth it now, or am I better of with something like the CLAIT? Thanks :)

CLAIT is a computer course, it teaches you the basics of computer usage and is fairly well recognised thing. But it all depends on what sort of job your interesred in, if you were looking for some sort of office work then yes it would be pretty good but if it was say shop work then I think a decent Maths result would be better. On the other hand don't expect CLAIT to give you anything practical, I wouldn't for example give you a foot in the door of any IT job, its too basic and general for that.

Hey moonhead it's never to late to get qualifications.They won't guarantee you a top job,but they will give you a key to open the door of opportunitie.So you plow on and good luck.

I took a C.L.A.I.T course back in 1990. Computer Literacy And Information Technology. There are basic and advanced. Many jobs in this day and age require some basic pc skills, so you've nothing to lose. It is an RSA qualification.. If you want to be a secretary of something then you will need to go for RSA stage 2 or 3. (PS. I'm not sure if the I is for information or it stands for another word)

You don't say how old you are but the older you are, the less important GCSE results are. If you want to go into IT based admin then the CLAIT courses are a better bet. It's a good start. I'm a manager and get to employ people in an IT business and I'd go for the vocational qualification every time. Go for it and good luck!
