Polish squatters. Any chance of this kinda thing spreading.

How long before others realise that this is an easy way to find a roof over their heads. How long should it take for the homeowner to clear this up if at all?

But, that aside, it is wrong if someone can just come along and steal your home off you and the police can't immediately turf them out.

I had this problem on a second home, but not with immigrants, but with English squatters.
There is nothing the police will do, but you cannot be done for breaking and entry to your own home, so would suggest that for the price of a new door and a few hired hands, that she goes and takes it back.
I arranged to do this with 4 private contract guards. I had to pay the fines for assault and the cost of new doors and locks, but cheaper and easier than the appeal process.

It's the law that is the problem. If there was no such thing as squatters rights then they wouldn't have the right to squat.
As for her being an investment banker.....well we all started out with the same opportunity. Just because she got her head down, worked hard and passed her exams then went on to get a good job doesn't mean she should be punished for it.
Respect is what she deserves!

I had the same problem as you ICEMANSAV except my squatters were Scottish apart from one Irishman, we asked them to leave we even offered them cash(the Irishman took the cash/ 100) to go but they told us to go **** ourselves.
We had purchased a very run down hotel in London at auction. Previous experiences have taught us not to use the courts, so we used so local heavies this time!
We sat in the pub opposite are hotel, next we heard what sounded like gun fire then 15 to 25 squatters came running out of our hotel and up the street never to be seen again!
The Irish gentleman now works for us!! We found out hes a tip top builder and now a good friend as well!

it does seem that in some cases the European Court of Human Rights will say that squatting infringes on the landlord's rights

Of course, those who spend their lives hurling abuse at the European superstate would sooner die than go to Europe for justice; what a shame.
Anyway, ICEMANSAV has specifically answered the question, by pointing out that it has already spread - so quickly that the English are doing it too. (Dom Tuk didn't mention immigrants, it was others that did so.)
