Talking song - about mid 90's ish......

What is that song which talks through the lyrics with something like "smile at someone, and maybe they'll smile back". It's goes through a kind of day in the life or things to do to make the world better?

This is really bothering me as I can hear the man talking the song but don't know what it's called.

To answer your question fully. The words were taken from the Chicago Tribune's columnist Mary Schmichlly, who wrote a ramble in her column in 1997, which was then taken by creator Baz Lurhman, and made into the song.

The man speaking in the song is a guy called Lee Perry, who is actually an Australian.
