Still puzzling over 59. Someone very kindly helped with 28 which I have now worked out, but I'm willing to swap for any of the others.

The child's game is the 3 letter word and involves running around chasing and avoiding.
Finishes gives you the 4 letter word.

Together they mean left over bits of cigarettes, but it is not an expression I have heard before. It is listed in Chambers with this meaning
59) Child's game finishes with left over pieces

Child's Game is the one where one child runs around and has to touch one of the other children ... then that child has to run around and touch another child ... and, so on
(3 letters)

Finishes is the 4 letter word = Ends

Answer is Left over pieces = _ _ _ Ends
In case the 'cigarettes' reference misleads, it doesn't begin with f. Hope you don't mind, gen2.
Muffet I thought I had made that obvious by saying it was a term I had never heard of. Did you think I had never come across the F-word before?
Sorry, gen2, but the mention wasn't aimed at you. I was just trying to help jadeller, in case the cigarette reference misled.
