I downloaded a screensaver of a fish tank/aquarium. I've tried removing it through add/remove programs, but it's still appearing! How do I permanently get rid?
Click start.
Go to control panel, click display, click screensaver, then change your screensaver. I do not know how you can permanently remove it from your computer though.
If your a petrol head here is the best screen saver I have ever seen.
I may be being cynical, but when I used to use IE and saw a ads for those screensavers, they were on sites that I suspect were full of spyware. Have you got up-to-date protection against such nasties?
Thanks for both your replies. Toureman, I changed my screensaver but the little ****** wont delete!
Yes LeMarchand, I do have an up to date spyware removal program, but it hasn't detected it, if it is spyware.
I can't remember where I downloaded it from, although I know it was a reputable site, FileHippo or Download.Com maybe.
Try removing it in safe mode (press F8 during boot). If it still remains, it might be worth downloading HiJack This and running a scan. Be careful of deleting stuff that it highlights unless you're sure it's bad, though.
LeMarchand, I tried safemode and it still wouldn't delete, but I finally got it by searching for its filename, looking in hidden folders, etc. and deleting from there.
