Car lights

Have just found my car with its sidelights turned on. The car was locked and the lights were off when I went to bed last night and earlier on today. The car is a Peugeot 406. I had to unlock the car to turn the lights off, and I then turned thebkey to see if it wd start, which it did straight away. It is parked on my own driveway, with the gates closed, so no-one can get in. Can anyone explain this??? Never happened before, so am completely amazed and concerned.

Does you car have parking lights ?. my Mondy has parking lights , if you turn the light switch to the left the sidelights come on, not th edash etc, not does the sounder make a noise when you open the door.
But you would have seen them if it was dark.
VW had a similar feature by using the indicator stalk
