This question is going to be for employers or people who have the task of interviewing... Anyway, can you give examples of people you have interviewed that have not got the job due to impressions or actions during the interview ! This thread has a few good examples:

Dirty nails.
Not having done any research into the position being offered or the organisation.
People who finished my sentences
Some people had an attitude that the job was theirs for the taking and they did not have to do anything at the interview

All of the above +

Clean, well polished shoes
Smart suit
Happy and optimistic demeanour
Have interesting or / and amusing anecdotes in your mind. When / if the time is right during the conversation, it will help to 'bond' you with the potential employer, if you can share a laugh or a light-hearted moment as it will show you as 'interesting'.
