I think the writers have gone back to the original book, and maybe Miss Moneypenny didn't feature in that book.

After Pierce Brosnan disclosed that he would not be returning to the role of James Bond in 2004, Samantha Bond also stated she would not be returning, feeling that her Moneypenny was closely linked to Brosnan's Bond. On October 14, 2005 at an official press conference, Bond producer Michael G. Wilson announced Miss Moneypenny and Q, two staples in every Bond film (except, in Q's case, Live and Let Die), were not in the current draft of the script in the latest 007 adventure, Casino Royale.
Marky B, so delighted to see your nice comments about Caroline Bliss who is too often unfairly dismissed - mainly because her 007 contributions were so cruelly cut back. A great Moneypenny, and a great actress full-stop who sadly left the business 10 years ago but should be begged out of retirement.
robertson, you are sight about Caroline Bliss.I knew her a little some years ago and she is just the loveliest person.I just wish the Bond producers had been a little more creative with the character of Moneypenny at the time and given her more to do.
Incidentally Caroline and Samantha Bond both Trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School at the same time.
