I get brown patches on my grass that then totally kill the area and I am left patching it all up. Thought it was the dog but have kept him off and it still occurs. Any ideas and or remody Ta

One cause could be the 'Chafer Grub' i've known about the damage these things can do, but never had to deal with it myself, googled, and came up with this, it may not be them, but I think its the most likely cause, they tend to eat the roots of grass, and leave brown patches. Afraid I couldn't find a site that gave free advice.

I strongly agree with Lonnie that Chafer grubs could be causing the brown patches, another likely culprit is a fungal disease known as 'Read thread'

Sorry Townie, I could'nt get that link to work but its worth looking at the RHS, as they do offer good advice on lawn-care etc.
