Passport Expiry and Travel to Geneva
4 Answers
I have read that if your passport has less than 6 months to run, some countries will refuse you entry. Does this apply to Switzerland?
My passport is due to expire on the 25th July 07 and I travel out to Geneva on 20th Jan and home on 27th Jan. By the time I am due to return there will be less than 6 months on it!
I have scoured the net but cannot find an answer...anyone able to help? :o)

It depends on your nationality, which you don't give.
Switzerland normally requires 3 months validity.
However for many European nationals, including the UK, it just needs to be valid. Indeed if you are German an expired passport is OK.

If you are a Brit you can renew your passport up to 9 months in advance and keep the unused portion, ie if you renew with 9 months to go your new passport lasts for 10 years and 9 months.
Not sure how long the passport office is taking to renew at the moment but if you have enough time why not renew it now and then there's no issue.
