Bonio, whilst frequently quite irritating - and I'm not convinced this whole 'theft' thing isn't a publicity stunt - frequently visits Africa and other impoverished places on fact finding missions. Moreover, he publicised the Jubilee 2000 campaign to drop third world debt and got George W to donate $5 bn in additional aid to Africa.
I think it's certainly possible to argue that getting into bed with people like Bush is a flawed way of improving the lot of the poor and powerless - Bush got a photo op and gained a bit of cred, for example, but on the other hand, the bloke at the other end of the world with a bowl of rice in his hand is likely to be grateful for small mercies.
Chris Martin is a tireless campaigner for FairTrade, so I think you're a bit off with having a pop at him too, regardless of what you think of his music.

Fair comment bluedolphin, but as others have suggested, I wonder just how likely it is that anyone would be able to 'steal' an undreleasd album from a band as big as U2. I do agree that Bono does a lot of good, and I see no problem with a multi-millionaire having a social concience, the two are not mutually exclusive.
Rubbish, secretspirit! You dismiss their time as though it is worthless and simply a means of fleecing the gullible. Now, certainly Bonio or Stingy or whoever could simply donate a million of their own each time someone comes around with a charity envelope, that's true. But what happens when a celebrity endorses a campaign is that the public get greater exposure to issues, and overall donations go up. Anyway, how do you know whether celebrity X donates any cash to charity or not? If they publicise it they're damned as self-publicizers, if they don't they're tight!
