you can get a cleaner for grafitti in Homebase but not sure it would work on a wooden fence. It depends on what your fence was coated with before hand. If the spray paint has soaked into the wood then it probably wont come out.

Best to paint it with a fence treatment to try to cover the grafitti.

just a pressure treated fence which has a lm run of approx 100ft - didnt want to have to do anything with it but i suppose i will have to now. i am going to go into my nearest car fix shop tomorrow and ask them who they sell these aerosols to... obviously kids..... and i will get on to my local council about it.... i am totally fed up with trying to make my house look nice when these brats with no respect just ruin everything....god help them if i catch them....

Hi rs*****,

Photograph it and take it to the police station, and ask for a crime report number. They will file it and try to identify the culprits with other "Signatures"

Regards
Also, how about suggesting to your council that someone owing community service gets to treat/paint it for you. Not sure how this works, but I think it would be a valid job.
My council has a 'grafitti response team' and will come out and repaint whatever has been vandalised - walls, private property etc. Definitely worth contacting your council.
If you want to remove the damage yourself you will probably have to paint over it...
Our local council also have a graffiti removal facility. I share your sense of anger about what has happened.

Longer term, do you have any earth at the base of the fence.? If so some quick growing decorative ivy will probably start to cover it within a year, which would prevent the problem happening again in the future.
You may want to make them clean it of with a toothbrush but this isn't going to happen. The kid's doing this have no regard for you or your property. I wish I knew the answer to the problem, grafitte appears almost everywhere so don't take it personally. I can understand that you don't want to have to repaint the fence as it would be time consuming and expensive and almost certainly once you have a clean canvas they will be back to start again.
I would leave it for a while, take photo's as in the other answer and look around the neighbourhood for similar design signatures. The more photo's you get the more likely the police are to take action.
Most of all don't let the B*%"ards get you down.

so sorry everyone who answered - havent been near a pc since.....the council have now just come out and cleaned it off whilst they were doing a shop wall across the road. thanks for your help all of you. i will have a chat to the council and police if it happens again - good ideas....but i still think the main problem is the fact that kids can so easily get hold of aerosols of paint..........they would hardly stand out there for an hour with a paintbrush and tin of paint........anyway ---lifes too short - i suppose im lucky if this is my main problem for this week !!!!! thanx.
