how do you get the steering wheel of a escort 55 1.8d van

the airbag light is flashing on the dash so i tried to remove the steering wheel but i won't come off how does it come off

Before you take the steering wheel off, check for a loose connection under the drivers seat- there's usually a sensor in the seat to tell the airbag circuit wether there's anyone in the seat or not.

thats right. my escort was the same the light flashed. so i checked and wiggled the yellow conectors under the seat and sloved it. it did come back, but thats because the conector was cracked and kept popping off. if thats not it post again and im sure you will get info on how to remove the steering wheel. hope that helps

You have of course de-energised the supply to the airbag system and allowed sufficient time for the capacitor to discharge ?

I would hate to think of you removing the steering wheel and the airbag going off in your face.
