Foreign dissidents
16 Answers
In view of the recent Russian counter espionage affair that recently took place in London. Isn't it time that some form of restriction be taken to prevent foreign dissidents, who have created problems in their own country, coming over to this country and continuing with their campaigns from these shores? Thus in turn causing diplomatic tensions between this country and others, as well as the various potential dangers it can bring also.

We should just kill everyone on earth who isn't British. Then there would be no foreigners to commit foreign crime in their bloody foreign countries with their foreign ways and we could all get on with being British again and re-populate the world with good old-fashioned, honest British crime!
Altogether now 'Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves......'
;-)

Just follow the news bigmalc isn't it mostly about foreigners, and since this is the News Thread, this is where they belong. These type of questions also get the most postings.
Perhaps BIGMALC it would better for you to raise yourself of that soffa, and take an interest in what is going on around you. Then perhaps you can join in, (if you have the intelligence) and post some topical questions of your own.
This must be more constructive than just responding in your usual silly ways. Incidently all this talk about big strong arms, and your name BIGMALC, could it be that you are in dream land once again, and you are in fact a 7stone spotty faced youngster?

That's right ano! God you know me so well! Why, it's almost like we're soulmates!
Perhaps we could get together for a drink, but I'm afraid you'll have to buy them, me only being a spotty youngster and all! Am I allowed to bring any of my asylum seeker friends?
I should probably bring my wife too, just in case anyone thinks that you are trying to groom me! ;-)

Can't any of you leffties see any further than your nose?
For instance say that this affair was proved to be down to the Russian Goverment, what do you think the British Goverments reaction would be? Diplomatic incident between our two countries, just when relations are improving.
I cannot believe there are some out there that tries to play the Race Card again and again, why mention Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Desmond Tutu, all of a darker skin amazing, please grow up.
Incidently the day after I first thought about this question, a simular question was raised in the House of Commons, to the Home Secretary. (great minds think alike) no shouts of racism filled the house then, but then here we are dealing with intelligent grown-ups.

Since I was the one who mentioned the names, I htought I would give you the reasons why:
The title to your question is "foreign dissidents". The three most famous foreign dissidents (imho) are the aforementioned people. I din't think that this was a racist answer, but if you prefer to think of it in that way its up to you.

lol waldo, precisely..
i presume the reason figures such as ghandi, MLK were mentioned, was not i imagine to play the race card, but to illustrate that being a political dissident does not always mean you are A) violent or B) wrong.
the point is that if civilised people such as ourselves start turning our back, silence and or refuse asylum on those who are against oppressive regimes what world would be complicit in shaping? one where silence is maintained by violent oppression and political debate is not tolerated? if that's what being right wing means, i'd rather be a leftie any day.
ask yourself the question, you consider yourself a patriot? and if this country should fall into the hands of political powers that hurt the country and its people, you'd stand by and do nothing, even if you were forced to leave or had to flee in fear of your life, or is your love of britain only to a pointt??? if you're saying you'd continue the good fight.....perhaps you are more alike to mr Litvenenko, other than him being a bloody foreigner than you might think...
essentially i'd rather have better relations with a patriotic disident (who acts within our laws), than a state that sanctions murder and radioactive contaimination (should it be proved) on british soil..

Just to put things into perspective, that gentle loving chap that it seems you would have all loved to welcome and embrace with open arms, in the true tolerent British way, was in fact an ex-member of what was once the dreaded Russian KGB.
And I did not blame the murderee for dying WMF, so please do not make statements that are totally untue, when tring to get your lefftie views over.
The point I am making is, that if there were tighter restricions in place, on people entering this country., then we would not be yet again into another extremely dangerous crisis, which is not only putting us at great risk but costing you and I thousands of pounds for the privlige.
No mention of the questions in the House it seems. Or are you selective in your criticisms also WHF?
Surely I cannot be the only one apart from those in the House to see the true implications behind this affair? If I am, and there is so much apathy in this country, then it frightens me, that the voice of the left and others who wish harm to our country are the only ones prepared to take the time to voice their opinions. Not that I would not fight for their freedom to express their opinions even if I do not agree with them.
