hi ive just recently having problems getting 1st 2nd and 5th gears on my vr6 there is no cruching sounds it just feels very loose any ideas?updaate to this problem no reverse now but 1st and 2nd have become avaiable again! the year of my car is 96 p with 150k on clock

sounds a bit dodgy, without looking or driving it, it sounds like the gearbox may need a overhaul, sycromesh could of gone, or interceptor forks worn, might cost a bit to get sorted. Take it to a transmission specialist

Have a look at the linkage under the car at the base of the gear lever - remove the weather shield and check for worn or loose couplings on selector rods or cables.

sounds like the bushes on the gear linkage are worn to me.whats an interceptor fork??
