Who siad this popular phrase? I think it was a 60's tv programme or it may have been from a Carry On film..... not Ken Dodds.... the other guy who is very camp but was in a Roman film from the 60's-70's.... I can't remember his name and its driving me nuts!!!!!
Hiya. Did you mean "you are awful but I like you" ? If so, it was the comedian Dick Emery who had a character he did called Mandy (dressed up all tarty in high heels!) She used to hit people with her handbag and say "Ooh you are awful but I like you"-really funny! Hope this helps Jeanette 1976 :)
Are you getting Dick Emery (who did indeed say the "you are awful line" ) mixed up withy Frankie Howerd who was in Up Pompei a comedy based in Roman times?
Hahahaha... yes, Dick Emery it is.... but also thanks to Boo for reminding me of Frankie Howerd's name... both were drivin g me nuts..... but I LOVE old fashioned comedy like those..... fantastic... X
