i was out on friday having a few bevies with my family in a local pub,a friend of my brothers accidently went in to the ladies toilet,he was aproched by the meeter&greeter,and promptly and violently thrown out,he made no theats violent moves his hands were above his head.so a does the m&g have the right to throw him out b does he need a licence and should he not have been wearing a badge if he did ? far as we were concerned he was well ott,as other men had done the same.

No, this person was not entitled to carry out an assault in those circumstances. He should have verbally pointed out the conduct which caused him concern. If he thought it necessary, he should have asked your friend to leave.

I don't understand what you mean by a meeter and greeter. If the person was a Front Line Steward, they need an appropriate licence having gone through a process first to train them. A non-Front Line Steward also needs to be licensed but the qualification is less stringent and they do not deal with confrontation and security issues. It's a bit complicated so look at

a meeter&greeter is some one who is on the door to meet&greet people as they come through the door,so do they need a training and a badge or are they not classed as security ? it all seems like a bit of a loop hole for the pub to use door men with out the proper leagle requirement,but thanks any way danny
