is it all about standards?
17 Answers
we all have different standards and levels of maturity , what one person finds acceptable to discuss others find distasteful, personal insults achieve nothing , should we all take a moment to think before diving in with nasty comments. or does the annonimity of the site allow some to vent their anger and frustrations at strangers?

Standards and levels of maturity really have jot all to do with it.
I do agree that name calling is unacceptable..although I was called a dried up old hag earlier it didn't upset me ~ I found it amusing that someone could come to that conclusion about me considering my recent posts ;o)

I think it's more about ownership. Some people believe that when they are in a place long enough they get to dictate on how that place should be. And that also change is considered a bad thing. New people are a threat to a comfortable environment.
But what do I care? I rarely visit this site in the evening and I hear that's when most of the bickering goes on. Drunken antics perhaps? Late night losers?
On that note, I'm off to watch Dom Joly getting drunk on TV...

Noxy- I think alot of us don't have a problem with genuine questions like that one. It's the ones asking what other users favourite sexual positions are and the ilk that I personally (and a few others) dislike. Even you have to admit that questions like that are not genuine "need to know the answers to" ones but purely so users an boast of their sexual prowess and others to giggle over.
