If you mean region 1 DVD, the biggest help you can have is a PS2, and buy a thing called region x, It will come in a lot handier than you think, I bet this isn't the first thing you wanted but could only get on R 1.
If this is the one with Burt - who became an alien? The one that Billy Crystal had his career take off with??
If so It'tt be friday nights in front of the telly for me - great show...
In reply to EmmaJ how to do a region hack. What i did when i bought my philips dvd last year was i went to yahoo & put the make & model followed by the word hack & it brought up a few sites.I had to input a short 4 button code through my remote & then it asked me to select a region.I chose region 0 which means i could play any region on my dvd & it also meant i didn't have to keep on putting in the code when i wanted to watch a dvd with a different region number. However in saying that there are some dvd hacks that only let you use their hack a number of times & then it locks to what ever the last region number you chose. That's why if you choose region 0 you should have no problem
Further to gerry's region hack answer, the only thing to watch out for are US discs that are labelled "RCE" (which was an effort to foil people importing R1 discs). These discs may not play in a hacked player (it depends whether the player switches itself or is permanently set to R0). Your best bet is to find a friend with an RCE disc and check to see if your player is OK with them. Once it is region hacked (subject to the warnings in the above post), non-RCE Region 1 discs should be fine.
