can i ask how the incompetent cervix was diagnosed? I have a friend who was told she should have a stitch whereas her consultant diagrees, she is having a scan every 2 weeks to check her cervix isnt shortening or funelling.
I myself had 2 very early babies and insisted on a coloscopy which determined my incompetent cervix, i now have a stitch.
Make sure you are seen regularly, and try and get regular scans to check your cervix, if you are not sucsessful change your consultant, i had to change mine to get what i want.

the only thing the diagnoses is based on is me losing my son i go to the doctor once a week but so far nothing is happening but im still really scared
thats unusual to be diagnosed without any procedures, my healthcare service wanted me to have another prem before doing any research as they said my ealry births were probably due to infection or 'one of those things' i had to kick and scream to get answers.
It is good that you are being seen weekly, i was left for 6 weeks with nothing after i had my stitch op, if they do spot funneling then a rescue stitch can be placed before your cervix opens too far, another friend of mine had a rescue stitch and although she is more uncomfortable than me, she is the same gestation as me now.
Even if you have the stitch you will be scared, i thought i would have a stress free pregnancy after mine, but this hasnt been the case, i am now further than i have ever been in my pregnancy and am still worried sick.
Good luck, please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding the stitch.

thank you very much
I have had 2 losses at around 20 weeks. The first one was not diagnosed as an IC but the second one was. The consultant I saw at this stage said I would have a stitch next time. I have now moved and prior to getting pregnant again I saw a new consultant at a specialist maternity hospital. She originally said they would monitor me but when she did an internal exam (pre-pregnancy) she said I ahd a soft cervix and would put a stitch in. I am now pregnant again and have another consultant (other has left the hospital). She did not want to put a stitch in and would have prefere to monitor me but after having two other consultants say they'd put stitches in she has agreed to the surgery. It is all so confusing but I underdstand the caution the consultants have about putting stitches in as down to the possibility of getting infection. Maybe, you should ask for a second opition. It might help reassure you
