I had L-G-M-, so I thought legume for the pea part of the clue. Don't know what that has to do with jacket.
The whole crossword is here http://www.guardian.co.uk/crossword/free/inter active
it changes weekly, sometimes a Rufus cryptic, and sometimes quick.
Question Author
Sorry, I should have said it was cryptic.
Legume is the pod or seed vessel of such a plant..so it would be the pea pods "jacket".
Question Author
Ah, I thought it just meant plants of the pea family.
You inspired me to go to my online dictionary, where I found this definition of 'legume'
1. any plant of the legume family, esp. those used for feed, food, or as a soil-improving crop.
2. the pod or seed vessel of such a plant.
3. any table vegetable of the legume family.
I found 1 & 3 particularly informative!
