I've also got him (from http://www.hawkin.com/ ) a pair of little grannies in wheelchairs that you can wind up and race.
Or, for the money you can spend, what about one of those 'experience' days - motor racing, hang gliding etc?

If he likes air guitar, rock music and has a PlayStation 2, you can't go at all wrong with Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero 2.

It seems the majority of answers on here are from women, so I thought that I would provide a bit of male input.
There are two things that men hate receiving as presents.
1. Clothing.
2. Things that have only an 'admiration' value such as pictures or ornaments.
Basically men like things that you can use. Or even better something that you can drink. So for all you single ladies trying to impress your boyfriend at Christmas, stay out of the clothes shops.

Hammer Head is spot on
I'm a bloke and when a present is soft, its usually clothes and usually something you have to pretend to like.
Not being ungrateful and know that I'm lucky to have someone buying me something but if I could choose...............not clothes.
Get someting from firebox. Something stupid, that he wouldnt buy himself. They've got lots of bar stuff on there like optics, bottle openers etc etc
He can play at being a landlord!!
