No, your not wierd bob just imperfectly normal...
Never have them on, except on foreign films, and don't have a problem reading them and watching the action as I got used to all the ones shown on Midnight Movie (BBC2) donkeys years ago.
The most annoying text is on News24, especially on an outside broadcast (major event) and they have that running text / email / other news items taking up a lower third of the screen!!

Actually, my mother also has meniers (sp... too early) disease and always has the subtitles on. When I first moved out of home I found it impossible to watch telly without them on.
These days if I watch any foreign films that have subtitles and then go back to watching english telly without I find it very disconcerting for an hour or so. And I'm forever watching their lips looking for dubbing.
As for whether you're weird or not? Well no, not a bit of it.... you're as normal as me. Glad I could help sort that out for you.
(Careful Twizzler Boy, you're in danger of asking a sensible question m'dear ;0P)

I have the titles on as long as it's not a live programme cos then they're too slow and the spelling is lousy! My hearing is not brilliant, and it drives me mad how so much of the dramatic stuff is in whispers or off screen, so you've got no chance of a bit of semi-lip reading! Drives my sons barmy, but tough!!
