axa sunlife policy

my father passed away last week and i am doing all the paper work for my mum, dad had an axa sunlife over 50 plan, i have managed to get through to the company dea ling with this sort of thing they tell me they want all my mums banking details and sort code plus a copy of my parents will, why do they need all of this, is this correct !

Whether they really need the will depends on the nature of the policy. Some of these policies are written in trust for a named beneficiary, & if that was the case I would see no reason for them wanting it. If it's not the case, then CC's answer is the reason. Incidentally, I assume they asked for the death certificate?
