my father passed away last week and i am doing all the paper work for my mum, dad had an axa sunlife over 50 plan, i have managed to get through to the company dea ling with this sort of thing they tell me they want all my mums banking details and sort code plus a copy of my parents will, why do they need all of this, is this correct !

I would imagine that they need you mum's banking details in order to pay the proceeds into her account.

I can't imagine why they would need the will though, unless it is to check that you mum is the beneficiary and your dad didn't leave all his money to the local cats home.

They should have told you what they want the bank details for.

Whether they really need the will depends on the nature of the policy. Some of these policies are written in trust for a named beneficiary, & if that was the case I would see no reason for them wanting it. If it's not the case, then CC's answer is the reason. Incidentally, I assume they asked for the death certificate?
