I have given a couple of people these modern "old fashioned" wind up torches which require neither bulbs or batteries and which literally last a lifetime because there is no bulb to fail, or battery to run low and they've been thrilled with them. . All you do is wind them up for 30 seconds and they give enough light for 30 minutes use. You can get them in Robert Dyas for about �10 or try Googling Wind Up torches and you'll find various websites which sell them.
