Pastiche, meaning a work of art that imitates the style of another artist or period comes from the 19th Century French adaptation of the Italian "pasticcio", literally meaning something blended, itself originally from Late Latin "pasta" having the same meaning as our "paste". This, of course is the same source from which we get the generic term for macaroni, tagliatelli, spaghettti etc. etc.
