We used to have Queen Alexandra's Rose Day; why was there a special day for this, and when did it cease?

I notice that nowhere on Kempie's helpful site, or the link within it, does it mention when the Day actually is.

I can't remember whether it is always on a particular date, but it always seems to be around midsummer, in late June.
I do not believe that there is one nationwide day, but rather that affiliated charities are allocated a specific day for collections within their locality. This day may be different from other localities but all are within the month of June.
