We are only encouraged to do it by the card shops and the post office.
If everyone did as you did it would raise millions for charity and be a far better symbol of Christmas than a load of christmas cards that will be thrown away a week or so after Xmas.

We are all doing this at work - it's a great idea! I bought a cheap box of charity cards (50 for 1.23 from tesco!!) and sent them so at least i wouldn't feel guilty, and with them being charity cards i get to donate to them too - as well as our sponsored charity (which is the Special Care Baby Unit at the local hospital). Spread a little bit of Christmas cheer to everyone that way!!

dont feel guilty, feel pleased that youre helping others.
Obviously buy cards for close relatives but prehaps email those that you dont send to and just make a point of telling them what you have done.
A friend of mine emails everyone and asks what theyd like, she can donate to 1 of 3 charities or send you a card. Given the choice i always choose the charity option.

I give the money to charity, but email my friends and family to say Merry Christmas and explain, and I also post the link to the site that I am donating to.
At my mum's work they decide upon a charity and anybody who wants to donate instead of send cards can sign the white board with the Christmas message and put money in the money box, which is then counted up in the New Year and donated.
