The Aintree Iron isn't mentioned in the song "Lily The Pink" - it is an entirely different song also by The Scaffold, "Thank U very much for the Aintree Iron".

I was told that from the air, the Aintree racecourse looks like a flatiron shape - but obviously this is just one more explanation - and Mr McGear is not saying.
