The Holy Bible 1935 - Water Damaged

I have The Holy Bible 1935 Collins' Clear-Type Press. It has pages of pictures in, maps at the back. Authorised King James Version, self pronouncing.
My radiator leaked and has ruined this bible which was my mums, who has now passed away, Any idea how much it would cost for contents insurance purposes.

I doubt there is any real commercial value to your Bible.

Every home had one, indeed every child had one.

Even Bibles of 200 or 300 years old have little value, unless they are really exceptional.

This reminds me of an old joke:
Every year the vicar went round the houses in his village collecting money for the church, and one old farmer gave particularly generously, so when the church was struck by lightening, he was the first person the vicar turned to. To the vicar's surprise, he refused to give any money, and when questioned said that he was prepared to help anyone maintain a roof over their heads, but he was damned if he was going to help the fool who burnt down his own house.

Unfortunately for you, it will probably hold only sentimental value. You could possibly claim to have it restored, but I doubt that the cost of restoration would exceed your insurance excess.

Things like that will add famliy interest to the Bible; just write inside the book; damaged by radiator leaking and in 100 years time it'll have your descendants asking what was a radiator? or how can a radiator leak?
