Just a bit too convenient that the song was sooo Leona.. Ray didnt have a chance with the 'new' single as it just wasnt his style! No denying Leona has a brilliant voice.. but just seemed wrong somehow..

Yeah but maybe another ploy? How Ben got kicked out over Ray is beyond me.. but then again perhaps that was in their minds? If they have had offers from America for Leona.. then surely they couldn't afford for her to have 'real' competition?

I don't get why they used THAT song for her single, when that was the one Kelly Clarkson released when she won American Idol. Couldn't they have come up with an original song, or at least one that wasn't used in a similar competition??

It just turned out the way it did. Ben was in the bottom two the week before, and in the last few weeks Ray won alot of fans. Even if Leona had come second, Simon Cowell would have snapped her up and still had the interest from America.

I do agree about the choice of song - it was obviously going to suit Leona far more than Ray. I was expecting another original song like last year, at least so they could each make it completely their own, without the public already knowing another version that they would probably compare it to.

I hope they give her the songs she deserves, rather than the rubbish they've tried with the winners in previous years.

When Simon said that Ray had the edge this week, I felt he was saying it so that the publice woke up to vote for Leona. He always thought she was going to win. She has a good voice but she is not different enough. All her songs are sung in the same way. Kelly Clarkson's version of the winning song is so much better. This time next year you will be saying Leona who?

whether it was a fix or not i dont know but how long will leona last in the music world, will young has diappeared from the spotlight, gareth gates has gone too, hear say were a flop, michelle macmanus was a flop, wheres chico and that steve bloke, girls aloud cant write their own music they need to do covers of old songs, theres only Liberty X who have gained anything from all this reality tv crap

a great voice doesnt necessarily equal 'pop star' hence the reason 90% disppear after 1 hit.
to me a pop star is someone who can actually write their own songs and not just sing other peoples.

Thought it was good when Gary Barlow said to Simon Cowell that he hoped he would get her some songs worthy of her talent. Wonder if he was after a job he's probably got a few written and stashed away.

Don't think the result was a fix - be interesting to know though when the song was picked would like to have heard Ben's version!!

No matter what song was chosen , Leona was always going to peform it better , afterall she has got a superior singing voice .

I think she stands the most chance of future sucess , compared to previous winners ; because of two important factors - she has been ( will be ) signed up by a top american producer and apparently the american public are excited about her - i.e showing interest in her - something that they hadn't shown with previous winners .

The important thing is to crack the american market

By the way , what has happened to last years winner Shane Ward - Is he doing the seaside circuit ?

DC-FC - I have to disagree - Will Young is the only one who is still going strong - he has just had some sell out concerts at Wembley Arena!! All the others are probably being headline' entertainers on cruise ships......

Will Young is international now although I'm not a fan and G4 have done well - I agree with earlier comments the song sounded fixed for Leona and I also thought at the time that they were saying Ray was favourite to get Leona the vote I do think Ray has more personality but I thought Ashley and Eton Road potentially could have been better - leona doesnt sound any different from a lot of singers already but no denying she has good voice - Ray looks like a vent's dummy to me but he has passion but I would never buy an album by either of them!

Leona was far and away the most talented person in the competition. Ray never stood a chance.

Given that they only sang the new song moments before the voting closed, it won't have had much bearing on the final voting figures.

So, knowing that Leona was a shoo-in to win, they'd have been stupid not to choose a song that suited her voice. They do want to sell records.

I agree with Eastender if I want to hear swing I would by Sinatra or Dean Martin not Robbie Williams - Westlife or Ray as it will always be a poor second in my book
