On a Chris Barber CD I bought is the catchy little folk tune "Ha, Ha, This a-way."
Does anyone know lyrics and origin of this tune?
Thanks

oh b*gger

ha ha this away
ha ha that away....

remember it from some children's tv prog when I was grwoing up.
It's the theme tune to Wizbit.

Ha-ha thisaway
Ha-ha thataway
Ha-ha thisaway
My oh my
hey Wizzzzbit!
There's one other possibility...

Doris Day and Johnnie Ray had a hit (as a duet) in 1953 with a song called Let's walk that-a-way. It's about a courting couple out at night under the moon and the stars, and the lyrics go something like: (forgive mistakes and omissions, please!)
"Let's walk that-a-way, not go this-a-way,
(second like I can't remember)
Let's walk that-a-way, not go this-a-way,
This-a-way only leads to home".

Possible that Chris Barber did a version of it.
Thanks for that reply. This has been really bugging me. I knew Doris Day was involved somewhere but wasn't sure of the exact title. However, I think this may have been a rehash of a much older song. I have seen a link to Ha Ha Thisaway with the black American folk sing Huddy Leadbetter (aka Leadbelly).

Thanks Johnny37, I found a link to Huddie Leadbetter who recorded this song in Wilton CT. in March 1935.
