Problems with cancelled appointments under NHS Choose and Book
1 Answers
Under the much-vaunted 'Choose & Book' scheme for selecting a hospital/clinic of one's choice, waiting time for 1st appointment is one of the measured criteria. Having selected a clinic on short waiting time, I now find the clinic has cancelled/rebooked me twice, and is now just scraping inside the 13 week max wait. Three questions to someone 'in the know' from inside the NHS - 1) how many times max. can I be cancelled/rebooked? 2) what happens if I cannot be seen inside the 13 week max. window the NHS talks proudly about? 3) Does the measured statistic for 'average waiting time' log the actual wait, or just the recorded wait to the first cancelled appointment (it's a fib if it does)

If the patient cancels the appointment, the wait time is reset from that date, and the 13 weeks starts counting from then.
