The present setup is an intergrarted 128-bit AGP Graphics Accelerator and provides an optional 4X AGP slot for highly graphics display. I am considering an upgrade.

Any AGP graphics card will work in your board as long is it is 4X. The best ones to go for are Geforce / NVidia.

Advice please on which graphic card to buy this is a very old set up and I think the type of card must feature SDRAM

You can insert ANY AGP graphics card into an AGP slot. The AGP slot is effectively a communications port which allows the main board to talk to the adaptor. The adaptor itself is essentially a computer that deals with graphics, so there is no need for any further compatibility (in the same way that you can connect any two computers together via LAN adaptors - the specifications of the two computers do not have to be compatible in any other way).
Buy the AGP adaptor of your choice, then disable the on board adaptor in the BIOS settings.

Its not quite true to say you can install any agp card in any agp slot. I have 2 kinds (3.3 volt and 1.5 volt technology), but cards cannot be installed in the wrong motherboard because of different keyways, which are physical differences in the connectors.
it appears there is now a 3rd kind, 0.8 volt, which I have not yet seen in use anywhere
