What is the easiest way to back up an iTunes lirary to an external hard drive?

the easiest way is forget itunes fo rthe minute and just copy the folder you keep the songs in, when it comes to restoring just install itunes and import the folder .
ive done this and recovered every thing including bought item it works fine
itunes now has a back up to cd/dvd disk function, do that then copy to HD
