Dos Virus Scan

Hi im wondering if anyone knows if its possible to do a virus scan on a XP machine before logon, i used to have one on windows 98 where on the DOS startup it would scan all files and show if any where infected, i know XP doesnt use DOS but i was wondering if there is anything similar?

For XP it isbest to run your scans in safe mode, in my opinion.

This activates the barest applications necessary, and really does help to get rid of all virii permanently.
