Yes! My attempt was returned yesterday. I scored 100% but was not selected as a prizewinner. First prize went to a Mrs Brandejs, second was Maureen Anthony (is that you Muzz?) and third was Mrs Cunningham.
There is not a "Liz Hoare" amongst those 199 who scored 100% (sorry). :o(
Mine hasn't arrived yet - so probably delayed in the post - it usually comes just before Christmas. Obviously (from crofter's answer) I'm not a prizewinner, though still hopeful of getting 100% myself.
Didn't expect to win, just curious to know how I got on as it was my first attempt. Had some help from AB's. Happy Christmas to everyone on site. May all your dreams come true. xxx
Just got my answers back. I got 99.5. I put fell running instead of fell walking. What a dork! It was a genuine writing error as I knew the answer was walking. It said stroll for God's sake! xx
Hard luck Liz. - I fully sympathise with you over that. I have twice before scored 99.5 through silly writing errors that I should have spotted and you really do feel like kicking yourself. I'm still waiting to get mine back so I may yet have to get my kicking shoes out.
Well done though for getting a high score at the first attempt. I only scored about 90 on my first go about 10 years ago (before AnswerBank existed).
Liz, I've scored 99.5% on about four occasions. Usually it's a spelling error, Once I missed out a letter - and on another occasion I tippexed out a letter (to be altered) and forgot to go back once the tippex had dried!
All annoying, but you can claim a moral victory - however it never quite feels the same! Good luck next time!
Thanks for all the sympathy folks! At least at this time of year we have lots to do so no time for wallowing in self-pity.
Once again, happy christmas to each and everyone of you! Cheers! xx
It was just as I feared - another near miss. I was one of the many who had Reading Jail. I really must get in the habit of looking up EVERYTHING - even when I think I know the answer.
