Neutering male cat
I am going to have my five month old terror neutered when he reaches six months. Some folks have said it will calm him down, others have said it will make him worse! He is an aggressive little tearaway who is systematically destroying the house and bullying my older female (but he is still very cute - caught him having a bath in the sink this morning!). He pushed my bedroom door open and woke me up by attacking my face the other morning and I am covered in scratches. If he was a human he would have an ASBO. Does neutering calm them down? I am going to have it done anyway for birth control reasons, but just wondered whether my life will be any easier!!!! I guess I am looking for hope!!!

He's still silly, manic, and loving, and is still rather 'interested' in his sister, who has just been spayed.I think they calm down a bit later on simply because they are getting older.
So don't know if the hormones change over time ater the op-hope for your sake they do.Maybe the vet is the best authority
Good luck

Thank you all. It's as I suspected. Chaos unlimited in my house for now. Wolf, as you say, it seems like forever!!! I have had all my cats from kittens (male (5) and female (2) over the years) but have never encountered anything quite so bad as this. The latest film is the Devil Wears Prada. Well I can assure you, the Devil wears a ginger tom outfit!!!!!!! Going to barricade myself in my bedroom now! But he is SOOOOO cute when he puts his mind to it!!!!
I rescued a very personable all black injured male kitten about 4 months old. We finally repaired his little arm and he is as good as new now. He has a personality that wont stop, and he talks up a storm. He is however a complete stinker and chases and terrorizes all the other cats and runs around the house like a little spitfire bouncing of whatever is in his path.
He dutifully destroys the house and then looks at me to see how pleased i am with his handy work. He is a muffin though and i cant resist him. He was neutered at about four months when he was first taken to the vets for his injuries. Neutering hasn't slowed him down yet, BUT, he is still a kitten and i have had other little terrors that mellowed as they aged. His name is Licorice and he has other little "brothers" around his age that he tears around with and that cause their mum all sorts of mental anguish and smiles. Your little terror will calm down after his kitten hood starts to wane. Neutering may calm him some, but dont hold your breath on it. Licorice also likes to stalk and pester his "sisters too, of which they dont take to kindly to.Curiosity and wreaking and demolishing everything that is not tightly nailed or super glued down is in a kittens job description(or so i have found out) they cant help it, it's what they do, and very cutely I might add. My solution is to have a good supply of super glue on hand at all times to mend what they break.
