Playing downloads on a CD

I've downloaded some tracks from Tescodownloads and, after much trouble have managed to burn them onto a CD. They are Windows Media Player files. Is it possible to convert them so that they can be played on an ordinary CD player?

You can use media player to burn an audio cd that should play in most cd players.

Thanks for that. However, I did try doing so through Media Player, but the resulting CD doesn't work on my CD player. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but any hints would be gratefully received.

Tefler, have you burned the tracks using cd r discs or maybe cd rw discs, (They can be used over again) but they dont tend to play in a home/car cd player. Most cd r discs will play on any cd player. Once windows media player converts tracks, then burns them, it should finish by saying complete, I experienced such a lot of problems when I first burned tracks, but trial and error sure do play their part...On the right side of WMP make sure it reads *CD Drive (E) Audio cd * if not change it on the drop down menu. my home cd player is 3yrs old and all my burned cds play on that, they even play on my cheapo one in the kitchen. good luck, let us know how you get on

Thanks, ermadea. You were right in your guess that I was using RW discs. I'll give the Rs a go when I can get into town to buy some without being crushed under the stampeding hooves of Sales beasts! The CD player I want to play them on is rather older than yours of three years - I think it's more like 23 years old - so I might be fighting a losing battle, but I will try.
