Honours system what a joke
I've just read that Naseem Hamad world class boxer has been stripped of his MBE for being in a serious motoring accident, fair enough you may say.
So why is it that the biggest most prolific pathological liar in world history "Lord Jeffrey Archer" who was sentenced to four years imprisionment for perjury and the embezzlement of 600,000 from the sun newspaper gets to keep his "Lord status" and why does his criminal friend Jonathon Aitken who served two years for his criminal activities get to keep his status as a "Sir"
The so called "Honours" system in this country is an absolute insult to the intelligence

As a life peerage is not technically an "honour under the Crown", it cannot be withdrawn once granted. Thus, while knighthoods have been withdrawn as "honours under the Crown", convicted criminals who have served their sentences are able to return to the House of Lords, such as in the case of Lord Archer of Weston-super-Mare.
the Honours System continues to be debased annually - when David Davies is given a gong for 'services to football' it's enough to make you laugh out loud!
Wembley Stadium STILL NOT BUILT, Erikson STILL BEING PAID, corruption acknowledged as rife, and unstoppable, er, which 'services' would these be then????
I'm sure the notion that Buckingham Palace and Downing Street communal toilets have paper with "Honours - please help yourself" printed on is just nasty gossip put about by cynical people who are not likely to get a gong this, or any year.
That would be me then!

I suggest you check your facts before posting wild allegations, Dom Tuk. The following is from Wikipedia:
"The Sunday Mirror, claimed in a sensationalist story that Clarke was an avowed paedophile, giving supposed quotes from Clarke about the harmlessness of his prediliction for boys. Clarke released a statement saying that "the accusations are such nonsense that I have found it difficult to treat them with the contempt that they deserve." He also said, "I categorically state that The Sunday Mirror's article is grossly defamatory and contains statements which in themselves and by innuendo are quite false, grossly inaccurate and extremely harmful." He later asked that the investiture of his knighthood be delayed "in order to avoid embarrassment to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales during his visit to Sri Lanka." In answer to the newspaper's allegations, Clarke was apparently investigated by Sri Lankan authorities, with the accusations eventually being dismissed. The newspaper later printed a retraction and Clarke was made a Knight Bachelor on May 26, 2000, in a ceremony in Colombo, Sri Lanka."

Kempie my apologies I thought he had a knighthood but for a man in the spotlight for so many years particularly for the Tory party (a shining example to us small people) he really got away for long enough with being a sleazebag

Dont know what you consider as wild accusations Rojash but this excerp from the article (link below) tells me all i need to know about low lifes like AC Clarke
Child right activists in Sri Lanka have expressed shock over science fiction writer Arthur C Clarke's confession in a newspaper interview of a life of paedophilia and called for his deportation just around the time Prince Charles was to knight him.
Clarke, 80, widely regarded as a visionary and author of the celebrated 2001: A Space Odyssey and some 80 other books, was quoted as saying in the interview published in London's Sunday Mirror that having sex with children was all right.
''Once they have reached the age of puberty, it is OK... It doesn't do any harm,'' said Clarke, who has lived in Sri Lanka for 40 years.
"I am trying to think of the youngest boy I have ever had because, of course, you can't tell it here. I think most of the damage comes from the fuss made by hysterical parents afterwards. If the kids don't mind, fair enough,'' he was reported to have said in the interview which was conducted at his house.

Ofcourse asking the perpetrator about his crimes always has been the best way to resolve the issue.
based on the above i stick by my earlier post. let me know if this link has changed your blinkered view of the world of authors, british genteel society and their penchant for spending their old age in places like Sri lanka and Thailand.
