Someone on answers.com has put nearly every answer bar two on there. They 'think' the answer to this one is Cill Dara. The only other one I'm struggling with is the Profumo one. Clues are given to it on that site but not the answer. Good lick to you as well. Time is running out !!

I'm guessing on the Profumo question. He was married (only once I think) to Valerie Hobson the actress who was born in Northern Ireland hence I am going with Bobby Beasley. What do you think ?

Thinking the same as you. Found out the name of Valerie Hoson's father and know she had a sister but have drawn a blank.
Interesting to know from someone I know that was born in Straford Upon Avon and that John Profumo was their MP. Josh Gifford lived in Stratford and was prosecuted for killing a person whilst driving but got away with it . He was then taken to Findon to get away from it all by a well known trainer of the day (forgotten his name). Think this is is a red herring ,as he was born in this country. What do you think?
Am going to put it in tomorrow and it will be a guess - am going for Beasley - I may be wrong ???

Sue...there is an answer on this site giving Stan Mellor...i'm not convinced as i can't substantiate anywhere. i don't think it's Josh Gifford. However have just logged into The Sporting Chronicle Sports Directory website and all the answers are there !!!! except the Profumo question...somebody is holding that one back..but suggests it is a jockey who wrote an autobiography... think that narrows it down to Beasley and Biddlecombe and i'm going with BB as i can't see it being TB...and i'm not going out to buy the books tomorrow..unless i can browse in Waterstones !!!! have enjoyed doing this on my own... more or less... and it's a pity some people will have cribbed from the above site... good luck with your entry and enjoy the festival ...whether guest of the Tote or not ...best wishes ..andrew

Andrew - am with you on that one. Josh Gifford's father was named Thomas and his mother was Dinah Florence nee Newman and born in this country.
As Valerie Hobson was born in Northern Ireland, I'm still going with the Irish connection of Beasley unless I find anything different today.
Biddlecombe's parents were farmers in Glos methinks. Don't think it's Stan Mellor - but who knows. Maybe someone wants us to think it's him ?
