Have you been to see anyone, have things got worse? If this is the case your local casualty unit should have someone available that you can speak to and can assess anything that they can do to help you.
If you don't want to leave the house then if you can get a friend or relative to be with you and call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 for their advice. You could also try your GP's out of hours service, just ring your doctor's usual number and it should give you the number.
If you get really bad and are feeling desparate or having any suicidal or harmful thoughts about yourself or others then get straight to casualty and if needs be call an ambulance.
Sorry if I'm overreacting to your post, just wanted to make sure you're ok and getting the help you need :) xxx

You can sign yourself in at a local hospitals mental health unit or if you have a psychiatirc facility near you. You can go to the hospital or wherever, and explain you feel you need to be admitted there as you're afraid you may do yourself or someone else harm.
I know it can be done at my local hospital so Im assuming that it can be done in any hospital - good luck x

Hi ..... I want to apologise for my naff answer...I didn't realise this was a serious Q, unfortunately I don't have Jenna's memory recall ability and just stupidly thought that with the pressure of Christmas....well I felt like I was having a breakdown at times.
I have suffered with depession since I was 17 [I'm now 37], so I do sympathise..... My lifesaver has been the fact that I have a really understanding GP....... I know I'm lucky in that respect as not many have the time to just sit and listen. I hope you can find the help you feel you need and I know it sounds a little naff, but please remember there is always someone to talk to on here.
Look after yourself hun
Much love

Hi, just seen your post, how are you doing?
Many of us on here, myself included have suffered from types of depression and mental illness and you are not alone and can come on and talk to us anytime. I can and does get better :)
Help is out there if you need it, it can be a big step asking for it but if you can get yourself to that stage, and it sounds as if you know within yourself that you have, that's a major and sometimes the hardest step from which you can start getting better and moving forwards.
Try and separate it in your mind if you can, it's an illness which can be caused by all kind of things such as chemical imbalance and genetic factors.
If you look at things objectively, if you're ill then you get the medical help and support you need. eg go to the doctors.
If you're really ill, ie symptoms getting too much to bear, then you get medical help more urgently eg go to casualty.
Many long term conditions can be controlled with medication, if you have certain types of diabetes you need insulin everyday to right the imbalance in your body. If you have problems with say depression caused by a chemical imbalance you may need to take medicine every day to right the balance (I'm a case in point).
I hope this helps someway, let us know how you get on and take care of yourself, I'll be thinking of you xxx
