If I attend the SpeedChoice Course offered after my speeding conviction I do not have the three points put on my licience. Does this mean that my insurance premiums will remain the same or will they still increase?
If you have received a conviction or a fixed penalty for the offence (even though you may not have been awarded any penalty points) you must tell your insurers. Failure to do so will invalidate your insurance.
Even if you only have 3 points on your licence, most insurance companies are not bothered and will not increase your premium, or if they do, then not by much. The reason is that it's so common nowadays, and Insurance companies are fighting for your business. Try Norwich Union Direct for the cheapest.
In my understanding a speed choice course is an alternative to prosecution therefore you do not have a conviction. At least that is what I was told when I did a speed awareness course ,which I presume is the same type of scheme in Lancashire.
