They're very much worth getting, but it's also worth bearing in mind that there's not a great deal of software avaialbe yet that really makes the system shine.
The likes of Wii Sports, which comes bundled witht the console, and Zelda are abiu the only games worth getting, bt that will change as time goes on.
But as pure unadulterated fun, i've yet to have a bad experience.
I've also got an Xbox 360, and whil eI love that system to death, the wii is more fun to play with other people in the room.
And don't worry about looking like a plank - I just got back from my folks' where I took it down to show off, and my dad, who last played me at videogames in the early nineties at Blades Of Steel on the NES, had a great laugh swinging his arms around like a demented Pete Sampras.
