Likeness of accents

Derbyshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire... can anyone tell me what the difference is between them as they all sound the same to me.
They remind me of old english humble farm folk.... I think it sounds lovely.
Met a lovely chap from Bolton, so I was going to call him 'me duck' but isn't that Derbyshire? People say 'chick' or 'pet' here up north, where I'm from.
What can I say to him that's typical Bolton (he's a country lad).
Thanks! X

Or obviously compared to a southerner or cockney.
I guess its the same as folk from Newcsatle, Sunderland (Grrrrrrrrrrr, snarl) and Gateshead (Gatesheeeeeeed), unless you're from here, you can't tell the difference.
Huddersfield is very like Leeds though, isn't it?

Ask your Bolton friend what he thinks of Wiganers. There's a friendly rivalry between them. I think he would call you 'love' and not pet.
I asked a cahp from Wigan if there was a B&Q in Wigan. He said "No, ther's a W, and I think a G. You must be thinking of Bolton." (Thanks to Dave Spikey, a good Bolton lad for that one).
