New Years Honours
13 Answers
June Sarpong has got an MBE for services to the entertainment industry.
WHY?????????
Surely this is proof enough that the honours system is utterly meaningless. It demeans the honours given to people who may actually have done something to deserve them. Or am I being unfair?

It should be for real people giving real services to the comunnity not overpaid rock stars who have openly taken drugs and sleep with anyone or people like |une Sarpong - I have never even heard of her - who happens to know someone in the right places. So yes it does demean all the hard work of the people who really deserve them.
I can't understand why she is even on TV, let alone given any honours.
But then when you look at all the middle management civil servants - I think there is even an Admin Assistant there somewhere - who also got an MBE or OBE you realise how belittling it is to those who actually earned the merit by doing something out of their normal scope, rather than just doing their job. Also for all those most excellent chappies who 'earned' awards for services to cricket. Bless 'em.
It's worthless really, just feel a little sorry for those who truly deserve recognition.
