Does anyone know a good recipe that uses glace (candied) fruits? I received some for Christmas and don't really fancy eating them straight from the box as I think they'll be a bit sickly with all that sugary coating. Thanks.

1 cup golden raisins
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped mixed candied fruit
1/4 cup apple juice
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
In a bowl, combine the first four ingredients; set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs. Add the sugar, vanilla and orange peel; mix well. Combine flour and salt; add to sugar mixture. Stir in walnuts and the reserved fruit mixture. Spread into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

1 1/2 cups finely crushed coconut cookies
1 cup mixed candied fruit
8 dates, pitted and chopped
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon coconut extract
3 drops red food coloring
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet. In a medium bowl combine coconut, crushed coconut cookies, candied fruit, dates and pecans. Mix well. To the sweetened condensed milk add the coconut extract and the food coloring; stir well to mix. Pour into coconut mixture; stir well. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 12 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to waxed paper to cool completely.
